Applications for Level 2 Training in Paediatric Dentistry are now closed. This will be reviewed in September 2025.
This programme is designed to support dentists with an interest in Paediatric Dentistry to gain the skills and experience needed to become accredited as a Dentist with Enhanced Skills in Paediatric Dentistry (DES Paed Dent), and begin providing Level 2 care with confidence.
Structure of the course:
The programme will be a 24-month part-time course, involving supervised hands-on training for one full day every month or a half-day twice a month. These placements have been pre-arranged with the Local Health Boards, trainees will not be expected to arrange their own.
Trainees will be supported to build a portfolio of evidence, which at the end of the programme they will submit to a panel for consideration for Accreditation as a DES in Paediatric Dentistry. More details can be found in the applicant handbook below.
The course will also include 12 group study days on relevant topics, and a peer support network.
What if I already have training and experience?
Applications to apply directly for accreditation as a Dentist with Enhanced Skills in Paediatric Dentistry (DES Paed Dent) are open.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with the panel meeting twice yearly to assess all applications received prior to the cut-off date.
