HEIW are hosting two workshops to bring together colleagues from maternity and neonatal services from across NHS Wales.
The workshops are open to anaesthetists, obstetricians, midwives, maternity care assistants, nursery nurses, neonatologists, neonatal nurses, and operating department assistants/practitioners, as well as other key partners.
As Health Education Improvement Wales (HEIW) has a statutory function for workforce and education within NHS Wales, we are in the process of developing a national programme of work for the maternity and neonatal workforce. We recognise the valuable contribution that colleagues from across NHS Wales can make to informing this work. We would like to work with stakeholders and operational teams within each health board to understand the current workforce, the key priorities and to identify means of supporting the maternity and neonatal workforce through education and training. Whilst work is being undertaken to look at the key priorities in the medium and long-term, the focus for this workshop will be the short-term priorities.
