My Overall Experience

My internship at HEIW has been a transformative journey. Working closely with the Digital and Data team, I had the opportunity to delve deeply into the Digital Capability Framework and its significant role in supporting healthcare staff across Wales. This experience has broadened my understanding of digital engagement and research within the healthcare sector, and I am excited about the prospect of contributing further.

Project Summary

During my internship, I focused on various aspects of the Digital Capability Framework (DCF). One of my key responsibilities was managing the resources in our repository, ensuring they were well-organized, accessible, and up to date. This task involved meticulous organisation and regular updates to maintain the repository's accuracy and usability.

In addition to resource management, I was actively involved in DCF engagement research. This included forecasting self-assessment responses and planning data collection strategies. Although my primary role did not centre on statistical analysis, I took the initiative to gather and utilize datasets to enhance my work. This proactive approach allowed me to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, significantly advancing my data analysis skills and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the DCF research.

In the Beginning

At the start of my internship, I was introduced to a supportive mentor who provided me with a comprehensive overview of the Digital Capability Framework and its importance. This mentorship was instrumental in my development, granting me the freedom to explore various facets of the framework while offering support and guidance throughout my projects.

Next Steps

Looking ahead, I am eager to continue contributing to the Digital Capability Framework, especially as it is still in its initial stages. There is substantial work yet to be done, and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to be involved in shaping its future development. I am also excited about further opportunities within the Digital and Data team, where I can apply my skills and experiences to new and impactful projects. My interactions with the Data Warehouse team have been particularly inspiring

Outside of Work and University

Outside of work and university, I have a range of interests. As an introvert, I enjoy watching fictional TV shows and prefer working out in a quieter corner of the gym. I also indulge in video games as a way to unwind. Beyond my experiences in the UK, I am an ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) affiliate. Transitioning from accounting to computing and now to digital research has been an exciting journey for me. This diverse background underscores my belief in continuously exploring new opportunities and embracing change.

In conclusion, my time at HEIW has been incredibly rewarding. I am grateful for the opportunities provided and am excited about the potential to further develop my skills and contribute to HEIW’s impactful work.
