Nursing and midwifery

This section contains information about becoming a nurse or midwife, information for current nurses and midwives, and it highlights our work in these professions.

Nursing is the largest professional workforce within the NHS. It has four branches of nursing; child, adult, mental health, and learning disability. Midwives care for women, newborn infants and their families from pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, labour and birth, postpartum, and the early weeks of newborn infant's life.
