Medicines Administration Training is now available on Y Ty Dysgu.

Medicines administration training is essential for public safety, optimising medicine administration, and advancing best practices in both health and social care settings. In Wales, over 80 million prescription items are prescribed and dispensed in the community each year. Effective medicine support not only improves health outcomes but also empowers individuals to maintain independence.

This course aims to equip practitioners in health and social care with fundamental knowledge for the safe use and administration of oral and topical medicines, ensuring quality care and enhancing well-being. It aims to clarify specific roles and responsibilities in medicine administration, familiarise participants with relevant policies, procedures, and necessary documentation for effective medicine management.

Upon completion of the package, participants will be required to undergo a local observational competency assessment to confirm their ability to administer medicines effectively. The e-learning provides the knowledge base but doesn't imply that individuals can administer medication afterward; they still need to have their competency assessed in practice.
