Ian Mathieson, Director of Education Strategy and Transformation for Health Education and Improvement Wales, the organisation responsible for commissioning nurse training in Wales said:
“We have been informed by Cardiff University that a consultation is taking place on the future of their nurse education provision, specifically their adult, child and mental health programmes.
Our priority is to maintain the ongoing high-quality education of nurses in the Cardiff area now and in the future.
We are focussing on ensuring that all current nursing students are fully supported through their educational journey and the beginning of their nursing career.
We would also like to assure current students and those enrolling in September 2025 at Cardiff University that their training will continue until graduation and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.”
