Access to Advanced and Extended Practice Funding for Pharmacy Professionals

Pharmacist filling in form

All registered pharmacy professionals who provide public facing services from a community pharmacy or GP practice (including self-employed locums) can apply for funding to support them to develop advanced or extended skills.

Pharmacy professionals who work within these settings in Wales are eligible to access the funding for course fees only, in order to secure training opportunities that support delivery of NHS services.

Education funding requests must be service driven and linked to Pharmacy Delivering A Healthier Wales, and specific priorities that have been identified.

Applications should be submitted by 30th June 2021. HEIW will then review these applications against the funding available and inform the applicant of the outcome of their application by 14th July. Those who have successfully secured funding will be supplied with a sponsorship letter from HEIW, which they can use when they apply for the course at the Higher Education Institute.

Pharmacy professionals will have to apply directly to the organisations offering the course and are subject to their eligibility requirements. HEIW will liaise with the Higher Education institutes to pay the course fees, for those who successfully enrol on the courses.

If you work in any of these sectors, please click here to find out more about the courses available and access an application form.
