The recruitment process for cohort three of the re-established NHS Wales General Management Graduate Programme concluded recently, with fifteen new management trainees appointed and allocated to various NHS Wales organisations.
Run by Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW), the scheme is vital to future proofing our talent pipelines across NHS Wales. Re-establishing this programme on an annual basis is a prioritised component of our NHS Wales succession planning strategy, with trainees emerging as a new generation of vibrant, compassionate and future leaders and managers within NHS Wales.
Whilst trainees gain significant operational experience and academic qualifications from participating in this programme, our NHS Wales system gains from academic research and work-based projects that informs and bring new perspectives to many areas of our work.
Our recruitment process for Cohort 3 recently concluded with 15 new Trainees being appointed and allocated to our various NHS Wales organisations. Over 550 applications were received this year, highlighting the value and quality of the programme. The successful applicants were identified through an inclusive and rigorous process that included video applications, psychometric assessments, assessment centres and finally interviews with our executive teams across Wales.
Claire Monks, Graduate Programme Manager said: “Having a talent pipeline of future managers in NHS Wales is crucial. Through this programme we are able to provide organisations with future compassionate leaders in various roles throughout Wales. Attracting diverse and top-tier talent we are able to contribute to the overall success and growth of NHS Wales, helping to build a sustainable foundation for the future.”
