Core Surgery Training Programme Director

 

HEIW is inviting applications for two Training Programme Directors for Core Surgery to join the team and work closely with the Postgraduate Medical Dean, the Head of Specialty School and the Specialty Training Support team to play an important role in the direction of training programmes across Wales for Core Surgical trainees.

 

For the first time HEIW are looking to appoint two Training Programme Directors to have joint responsibility to manage the entirety of the Core Surgery Training Programme across Wales.  The respective roles will have regional responsibility for the South East & North Wales and South West Wales and will agree responsibility for additional duties such as STC Chair, ARCP Lead and Teaching Lead.

 

The ideal candidates will be an experienced Surgical Consultant with a comprehensive knowledge, understanding and passion for training.

The candidates should have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work as part of a team to help shape and develop a high quality and sustainable training programme that will attract and retain trainees of the highest calibre.

The post will be offered for 3 years in the first instance, subject to satisfactory annual appraisal, with the option of applying to extend the role, if mutually agreed.
