These vacancies are open to consultants who are currently working for the NHS in Wales on a permanent contract within specialty. Candidates must have experience of teaching in higher education. The vacancies are sessional arrangements (allowance varies across specialties and is specified in the job description). If you’re successful, you will need to discuss the time commitment in your job plan with your Clinical Director.

Training Programme Director for Dermatology

HEIW is inviting applications for a North Wales Training Programme Director for Dermatology to join the team and work closely with the Postgraduate Medical Dean, the Head of Specialty School and the Specialty Training Support team to play an important role in the direction of training programmes across Wales for Dermatology trainees.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Dermatology Consultant with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of training across the region and who also has strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.

The post will be offered for 3 years in the first instance, subject to satisfactory annual appraisal, with the option of applying to extend the role, if mutually agreed.

Interim Head of School, Radiology

HEIW are looking to appoint an Interim Head of School for Radiology to join the Specialty Training Team within the Medical Directorate.

The Specialty Training team is responsible for supporting with the planning, delivery, and management of 58 postgraduate medical training programmes across the 10 Specialty Schools in Wales. 

The Interim Head of School for Radiology will work closely with the other Heads of School and Senior Management team in HEIW to ensure the delivery of high-quality training across Wales by sharing best practice, providing strategic leadership, leading initiatives and advising on a range of issues relevant to Radiology.    

The candidate must hold a current substantive contract as a practicing Radiology Consultant in Wales. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of training across Wales is essential as is strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
