Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is the strategic workforce body for NHS Wales. We play a leading role in the education, training, and strategic development of the healthcare workforce across Wales. With a clear vision to build a skilled and sustainable workforce that enhances care and improves population health, as part of NHS Wales, we work with partners to plan, develop, and support both the current and future healthcare workforce.

👉 Are you a dentist with additional experience and skills in Paediatric Dentistry? Achieve accreditation as a dentist with Enhanced Skills in Paediatric Dentistry - apply by 10 June 2025 to a new, nationally recognised accreditation process that ensures health boards can be confident that DESs have the required experience level and skills to work safely.

👉 Do you use Immersive Technologies for healthcare education and training? Or would you like to?
HEIW wants to hear your views about how to best embed Immersive Technologies (such as virtual reality and augmented reality) into education and training across healthcare in Wales.

👉 We celebrated the diverse roles, the expert care and incredible achievements and contributions of midwives near, far and wide on International Midwives Day.
This year’s theme is ‘Midwives: critical in every crisis’. Recently, HEIW was able to attend the Royal College of Midwives Conference 2025 and interview midwives directly!
