HEIW Optometry invite you to their next annual conference in Swansea – ‘Optometry 360’

Aimed at: Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians, Pre-reg Optometrists

The conference will include a wide variety of areas, including IP, clinical challenges and includes keynote lectures and a choice of peer review opportunities. It will also explore the visual challenges common among neurodivergent individuals, such as sensory processing differences, difficulties with eye tracking, and heightened light sensitivity examining strategies.

This is a half day conference commencing at 2pm to 8pm

Dr Ian Collings, Director of Medic Professional Support and Development (HEIW), Consultant Community Adult Psychiatrist (PTHB) (1 CPD point) - Topic: "Seeing clearly: optimising the neurodivergent patient journey in eye care services.”

Dr Napoleon Devaraja, Consultant Ophthalmologist HDUHB (1 CPD point) - Topic: Swollen Optic Discs.

 

1) Independent Prescribing in Action: A Case-Based Approach [3 Specialty IP and 3 general OO points are available]

This interactive session is designed for optometrists at all stages of their Independent Prescribing (IP) journey, those who have completed theory modules, are on placement, or are fully qualified IP practitioners. Through engaging case discussions, participants will enhance their clinical decision-making, refine prescribing practices, and gain confidence in managing complex patient scenarios.  

 

2) Navigating Patient Scenarios: Guidance for Optical Practice Teams [3 CPD points]

This peer review session is designed to enhance the skills of optical practice staff in handling diverse and challenging patient scenarios. Through engaging case discussions and expert facilitation, participants will explore topics such as professionalism, safeguarding, and effective communication strategies. With both Optometrist (OO) and Dispensing Optician (DO) points available, this session is tailored to build confidence and competency in real-world patient encounters. 

 

3) Ocular Pathology Explored: WGOS4 case studies [3 CPD points]

Join this interactive session to examine real-world cases of ocular pathology, guided by experienced facilitators. Key topics such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and naevi will be explored, with a focus on aligning with WGOS4 standards. This session provides practical tools and valuable insights to support improved diagnosis, management, and patient care in these important areas.
