Practice Manager Development Programme

A new programme is being developed for General Practice (GP) managers.

Our goal is to attract, recruit and retain our General Practice Manager workforce. To do so, we need to develop a clear development pathway for practice managers from trainee to efficient, experienced practice managers.

Through the work of a group of experts within each health board and HEIW, this programme will:

  • Conduct a training needs analysis for Qualification Development: Which degrees and accreditation already exist for each career stage? What are the training priorities which should be developed and accredited?
  • Develop a competency framework: what core skills are required by practice managers?
  • Develop a career development pathway with CPD for practice managers to support career progression and succession planning
  • Develop a professional support network for practice managers
