Nursing specific funding

Specialist Practice Public Health Nurses (SCPHN)

Education is available to enable Registered Nurses and Midwives to undertake Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) in order to work in public health roles.

Completing Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) education enables registered nurses and midwives to be join the NMC public health register. This recognises their specialist skills and enables them to work in fields including health visiting and school nursing.

Community Nursing Specialist Practice Qualifications

Education is available to enable Registered Nurses and Midwives to undertake community nursing Specialist Practice Qualifications (SPQ) in order to work in community based care.

On completing the SPQ in Community Childrens Nursing, Community Learning Disabilities Nursing, Community Mental Health Nursing, District Nursing or General Practice Nursing Nurses can apply to the Nursing and Midwifery Council to have an annotation added to their registration in their field of practice.
