Every training year trainee forums are established to improve and encourage communication with our trainee voice across Wales. Trainee forum meetings are arranged quarterly and are in place to facilitate trainees feedback about the training in the schemes and units.
Each spring we will invite trainees to volunteer for the role of Specialty Training Representative. If multiple trainees’ express an interest, a vote will be held, and normally one representative will be elected by their peers for Specialty Training in Wales. Representatives will be in post from Spring for one year.
DST representatives are expected to:
- Gather feedback from colleagues about the training provided within their training unit(s).
- Attend the HEIW Dental Trainees Committee (DTC) 4 times per year. Meetings are held virtually at lunchtimes to minimise impact and disruption to trainees.
- Feedback any points raised at the DTC to their fellow trainees in a timely manner.
- Provide a testimonial video about their training experience in Wales which will then be used on our HEIW dental website and social media to support future trainees.
- Please note: If representatives are unable to attend a meeting, they should arrange for a colleague from a similar training level to attend on their behalf to represent their scheme. Apologies must be received a minimum of a week in advance of the meeting.
Completion of the role and attendance at all meetings will result in a certificate of participation being awarded.
