Support Programme for Newly Qualified Dental Nurses

Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) has announced the launch of a new, initiative designed to support newly qualified Dental Nurses (DNs) as they enter the workforce. The initiative is part of HEIW’s wider commitment to improving the quality of dental services and addressing workforce challenges in primary care across Wales.

At the heart of the programme is a structured preceptorship model tailored for graduates of the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Diploma. This period of transition will offer mentorship, guidance, and hands-on learning experiences led by seasoned professionals, helping new dental nurses consolidate their knowledge, sharpen clinical skills, and build confidence.
