About Me

GP Partner, Meddygfa Taf Surgery / Founder of GP Sim Ltd

Richard graduated from Warwick University in 2004 with a 1st class (Hons) BSc in Chemistry. He went on to work in leadership roles within large international IT companies for 5 years, whilst also undertaking volunteer emergency response roles with the British Red Cross in London during this time. He was able to go on to pursue his life-long ambition of becoming a doctor in 2010, successfully applying to study graduate entry medicine at Swansea University Medical School. He completed his MBBCh in 2014 and ultimately achieved his MRCGP and became a GP Partner in 2019. He is now an 8-session partner and the lead for undergraduate medical students in Meddygfa Taf Surgery, Whitland, Carmarthenshire. He is also an Educational Supervisor for GP trainees and a member of the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH). He founded GP Sim Ltd in October 2024 to develop a novel simulation software platform designed to improve the safety and quality of primary care remote consulting after realising the lack of rigorous and consistent training and assessment of this rapidly expanding field of remote clinical decision making.
