The Advancing Healthcare Awards (AHA) Cymru is open to healthcare scientists, allied health professionals (AHPs) and those working alongside them across Wales. The winners of the awards were announced at a lunch ceremony on Friday 20th October at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
We were very proud to sponsor two awards at the event. The first award, for ‘Working across boundaries’, was won by Swansea Bay University Health Board for ‘Changing classroom environments to improve outcomes for children and young people’.
Judges commented that “The winning entry uniquely influenced future generations’ healthy behaviours, offering benefits for teachers, children, their parents, carers and the health service.”
Our values and actively promotes the importance of multi-professional and cross-disciplinary approaches so felt passionately about supporting this award.
The second award we sponsored was for ‘Outstanding achievement by an AHP or Healthcare Science Apprentice, Support Worker, Assistant or Associate’. This award was won by Sarah Powell-Jones, Dietetic Assistant Practitioner and Registered Nutritionist at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Danielle Allan, Administration and Project Support Officer at the All-Wales Medical Genomics Service. We recognise the importance of this workforce in AHP and Healthcare Science services across NHS Wales.
Dr Sarah Bant, Associate Director of Workforce Transformation, Healthcare Science at HEIW said, “We’re thrilled to sponsor these two awards as they align closely with our values as an organisation. It’s great to recognise such achievements and dedication.”
