New workforce planning hub launched to support NHS Wales staff

We’ve launched a new workforce planning hub to help NHS Wales staff build skills, access resources and feel confident in their workforce planning activities.

The hub is a new SharePoint site developed by us to support managers and organisations across NHS Wales. It brings together a wide range of tools, guidance and training materials in one place, making it easier for staff to plan effectively and develop their workforce.  The hub also aims to de-mystify workforce planning and create confidence by showing managers that they are already undertaking many workforce planning activities as part of their normal work. For example, recruitment planning, skill mixing and retention.

The hub offers something for everyone at all levels of experience and whether managers are undertaking short term or operational planning, seeking workforce solutions or aiming to develop a longer-term workforce plan.  The hub includes:

• Practical tools and templates
• Training, podcasts, case studies and self-development resources
• Updates on events, webinars and new materials and much more

This work supports HEIW’s goal of increasing workforce planning capability and confidence across NHS Wales. It also contributes to wider ambitions set out in A Healthier Wales and our Integrated Medium Term Plan (IMTP), helping to ensure the right people are in the right roles at the right time.

The hub is designed to be easy to use and accessible to all NHS Wales staff. It will continue to grow, with new resources added regularly to reflect emerging needs and feedback from users.
