Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is offering a new e-learning course, An Introduction to Eating Disorders: Foundation Level 1, on Y Ty Dysgu, the national e-learning platform for NHS Wales.
The course has been developed by HEIW and the Wales Clinical Implementation Network for Eating Disorders, supported with content originally produced in partnership between NHS England, BEAT (UK’s eating disorder charity), and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Within just two weeks, the course has attracted over 140 enrolments - a testament to the growing demand for specialised training in this area and is HEIW’s fastest growing course to date.
This course was created to help the health, social care and voluntary sector workforce at all levels, better understand eating disorders, recognise the signs, and know how to direct people to the right help and support. The strong uptake shows a clear commitment across the sector to improving knowledge and care for patients affected.
The feedback is positive, with many learners praising the course:
“I now have a better understanding of how to handle this subject when speaking to patients.”
“I now have a greater understanding of the many different eating disorders and how they can present in practice.”
As part of HEIW’s commitment to delivering high-quality education and training, the training course has been developed to provide the most up-to-date learning experience for healthcare professionals across Wales.
