Published: 5/12/2024

Agored Cymru and Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) are delighted to announce that they recently won ‘Employer relationship of the year’ at the prestigious Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) 2024 awards.

Now in their 9th year, the FAB awards recognise the positive contributions made by awarding organisations and their employees to education and skills in the UK. It’s the pinnacle awards ceremony, celebrating a world-class sector.

This celebrates those who have created meaningful connections and engagement within the industry. It relates to the dedication to collaboration which has taken education and skills to new heights through excellent practice and leading-edge ideas.

The two organisations have worked in partnership since 2017 to develop, deliver, assess and award qualifications for NHS Wales. They are currently working together on the development of over 40 vocational qualifications ranging from Level 2 Facilities Services through to highly specialist roles such as Level 7 Clinical Assessment. These ‘All Wales qualifications’, ensure CPD opportunities are available to all Health Boards and NHS staff across the nation, providing consistency in expectations and service provision.

The development of relevant qualifications has increased the quality of delivery and practice supported by effective standardisation across the country. To date over 1500 induction units have been awarded to new clinical staff ensuring they are fully prepared to provide a person-centred approach to the service which is safe and effective.

Jo Creeden, Deputy Chief Executive and Responsible Officer at Agored Cymru commented, “Agored Cymru is absolutely delighted to win Employer Relationship of the Year for its work with HEIW.

I am delighted to see the collaboration between HEIW and Agored receive this award. It recognises a sustained partnership that has produced a range of qualifications that are helping staff be more effective, safer, and work in different ways to improve service delivery,” Ian Mathieson, Director of Education Strategy and Transformation at HEIW.

The awards ceremony took place on 25th November.
