Aligned with Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW)’s priority to provide excellent education and training, HEIW works closely with practice educators in Wales to facilitate quality learning placements to undergraduate students.

Since healthcare education contracts were awarded, HEIW has engaged on an annual basis to listen to educators’ experiences of supporting students on HEIW commissioned healthcare programmes.

The engagement sessions provide educators with the opportunity to:

  • share their experiences of supporting students in practice
  • highlight examples of good practice
  • identify areas for improvement
  • explore ideas that could enhance and support the educator role.

During the 2025 engagement cycle, HEIW met with over 200 educators, where their feedback was captured and anonymously fed into our quality management system.

Get involved to help shape future conversations around the quality of commissioned healthcare education in Wales.

The next round of engagement sessions is scheduled to take place between January and March 2026.

If you are a practice supervisor, assessor, or educator supporting students in practice and would like your views to be represented in the forthcoming engagement sessions with HEIW, please get in touch.
