Federation of Royal College of Physicians exam error

We have been made aware by the Federation of the Royal College of Physicians of the UK that they have identified an error in their internal data processes.

This has led to 222 UK doctors being incorrectly told they had passed an exam which is part of a much wider package of assessment undertaken during training.

We are working closely across the four nations to ensure any doctor impacted is supported and with healthcare providers to ensure those affected can continue to deliver high quality and safe patient care.

Those doctors affected can access support through several routes:

  • For Resident Doctors in Postgraduate Training programmes: via your educational supervisor, training programme director or HEIW Professional Support Unit
  • For all Doctors: via your employer, the BMA, HCSA or the Royal College of Physicians

We will work closely with the federation to understand what has happened and will provide guidance next week to each doctor based on their individual circumstances.
