Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) occurs when students from two or more health and social care professions learn with, from, and about each other to develop effective collaboration and improve the quality of care and health outcomes.

Background to IPECP in Wales
IPECP has developed in response to the growing recognition that high quality health and social care depend on effective collaboration across professions and sectors. In Wales, this has been shaped by the need for more integrated, person-centred services, where no single profession or organisation can meet complex needs in isolation. As a result, IPECP is increasingly understood as a collaborative approach, bringing together practice partners across the NHS, social care, independent and third sectors, and academic institutions. By learning with, from and about each other, students and educators build shared understanding, mutual respect, and the skills needed for team-based working laying the foundations for a more connected, efficient, and patient-focused systems.
