HEIW's National e-Learning platform - Y Ty Dysgu, Reaches Over 32,000 Users

Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is celebrating a major milestone as its national e-learning platform, Y Ty Dysgu, has now attracted more than 32,000 registered users since its launch in December 2022.

The online learning platform provides the health and social care workforce in Wales with access to a wide range of learning opportunities, including:

  • Live CPD events and recordings
  • eLearning modules
  • Educational resources
  • Communities of practice

All staff working across health and social care in Wales are eligible for a free account. For NHS Wales staff, the system also supports Single Sign On (SSO) for quick and seamless access.

Learners benefit from courses designed and delivered by leading subject matter experts, covering topics that directly support everyday practice. Current programmes available on Y Ty Dysgu include:

  • Mental Health
  • Optometry
  • Dental
  • Pharmacy
  • Secondary Care
  • Primary Care and Community Nursing
  • General Practice (including Revalidation support)
  • Genomics
  • Simulation
  • Digital Capability Framework (with tailored digital skills resources coming soon)
  • Strategic Workforce Planning

Work is also underway with the Endoscopy Academy to develop new learning support in this vital clinical area.

HEIW ensures all learning is evaluated, with results available to course and event organisers to help improve future offerings.
