Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement Project

Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement projects can continuously improve the quality and safety of services, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

  • Clinical audits involve systematically reviewing healthcare practices against agreed standards to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.

  • Quality Improvement projects in Wales use the Model for Improvement which asks three key questions.

  • What are we trying to accomplish?

  • If we make changes, how will we know that a change is an improvement?

  • What change can we make that will result in improvement?

  • These questions are used in conjunction with small scale testing in “Plan-Do-Study-Act” cycles (PDSA).

Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement projects attract funding and CPD for all GDC registered members of the dental team.
