HEIW is providing healthcare professionals with free, evidence-based guidance and learning opportunities to improve recognition, diagnosis and consistent management of women’s health conditions.
Endometriosis, adenomyosis, menopause, menstrual health and contraception are just some of the health conditions affecting women throughout Wales every single day.
Research shows that while women live longer than men, they live fewer years free from disability, wait longer for pain relief and many women report having their symptoms dismissed.
Enhancing women’s health education across Wales is vital for consistent treatment and compassionate, person-centered care for women.
In March 2026, HEIW launched the NHS Wales Women’s Health Education Hub on Y Ty Dysgu.
Designed for healthcare professionals in Wales, the digital hub contains a wide range of resources and free e-learning modules covering:
Plans to continue development of the hub and its resources to cover more women’s health conditions represents progress towards closing education gaps and improving consistency in care.
By enhancing awareness and understanding, HEIW is committed to supporting the delivery of informed, high quality and equitable care for women in Wales.
The development of these resources directly supports the Women’s Health Plan for Wales (2025-2035). The ten-year plan sets out how NHS organisations in Wales will close the gender health gap by providing better health services for women, ensuring they are listened to and their health needs are understood. The plan aims to improve healthcare for women throughout their lifetime and is based on feedback from 4,000 women.
