Mentoring builds supportive learning relationships and fosters a culture of support and compassion through guidance, reflection and role modelling. This in turn empowers mentees to explore their horizons and find their own solutions.

We are happy to share our experience and advice to anyone considering setting up a mentoring scheme for trainees or trainers. We also offer a short workshop, in-person or virtual, which cover both the concepts and practice of mentoring. This can be delivered to trainers and trainees, mentors and mentees in various contexts, such as:

  • to raise awareness and understanding of mentoring in general
  • providing training to support mentors and mentees in both trainee and programme-led specialty specific schemes.

The workshops cover:

  • the concepts of mentoring
  • topics for mentoring in a healthcare setting
  • mentor and mentee relationships, behaviours, and responsibilities to each other
  • mentoring specific skills and tools, such as SMART objectives, using the GROW model, and the Johari relationship window.
