HEIW Pharmacy Provisional Registration Support

At Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) Pharmacy we have developed a provisional registration resource and forum section on our website. This is to support provisionally registered pharmacists employed in all pharmacy sectors in Wales and for those living in Wales who are working towards their first sitting of the GPhC registration assessment; between August 2020- July 2021.
The section contains resources and tools to provide support with:

  • transitioning into the new role of a practising pharmacist
  • identifying personal training needs
  • continuing professional development, evidence-gathering and the concept of life-long learning
  • preparing for the GPhC registration assessment
  • maintaining a healthy wellbeing.

We understand many provisionally registered pharmacists will be employed by larger organisations and will be enrolling on established programmes during this period, such as a clinical diploma or foundation training. However, we are keen to support all trainees working and living in Wales, to enable them to gain the most out of this period.

The section provides self-assessment competency frameworks, signposting to key general and sector-specific pharmacy resources, awareness of the HEIW CPD programme running through autumn 2020, offering of an online mock registration assessment and up to date information regarding provisional registration.

In addition, it contains signposting to the provisional registration resources available from the RPS, which are available to all RPS members. This includes access to a specific E-Portfolio, linking to the updated RPS Foundation Pharmacist Framework.

We are also encouraging the use of a forum, for provisionally registered pharmacists to ask questions and start discussions with their peers.
