Salary Details

As Foundation Therapists are employees of their Educational Supervisors, they must have tax and national insurance deducted.

TAX

If you have been employed in this tax year (after 6th April), you should have been given a P45 by your previous employer which shows the tax you have paid and your tax code.  You should pass this to your Educational Supervisor.

If you do not have a tax code, an emergency code will be used and you may pay too much tax.

If you start work and are paid without a tax code and then later receive a correct code, the tax relief will apply and your next pay cheque will be much higher (i.e. a tax refund will apply).

National Insurance

Your Educational Supervisor will need your National Insurance number.  If you do not have one, contact the Contributions Agency.

You will pay Class 1 National Insurance contribution at contracted-out rates.

Payslips

You should receive an itemised payslip showing all deductions every month.  If you have queries about your pay and entitlements, please take this up with your Educational Supervisor or practice payroll manager in the first instance.  Any remaining queries can be dealt with by the Training Programme Director.  Problems about Tax and National Insurance for Foundation Therapists which cannot be answered by us will be referred for specialist advice.
