Summary |
Include recommendations for increases in specific roles considering population health need and equity of access as part of future Education and Training Plan submissions as outlined within the Strategic Workforce Plan. (Linked to action 8B workforce demand modelling). |
Description |
This project helps make sure primary care in Wales has the right staff to meet people’s changing health needs. It uses planning tools to suggest more staff in key roles, based on what communities need. As more people live longer, we’ll need more types of healthcare workers. This project helps plan ahead so services stay strong and fair for everyone. |
Benefits |
The project helps build a team that can give better care and work well together. It makes sure staff are ready and able to meet local health needs. It also helps services run smoothly and use their resources wisely. In the end this means better care and better health for people across Wales. |
Progress so far |
We need good workforce data to make this work happen. The data for GPs and general medical services is now much better, and we have started using it to show why more GP training places are needed. This is an important step forward. |
Next steps |
Next, we will collect data for Optometry, Pharmacy and Dental services. When we have this, we can start modelling the benefits for the whole primary care workforce. This will help us plan and make the case for future training needs. |
