Calling all healthcare trainees and staff – would you like to contribute to a toolkit on raising concerns in practice learning environments?
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is looking for healthcare trainees and students to share an experience of raising a concern whilst learning in a practice learning environment of placement. HEIW would also like to hear from staff working in practice or academic settings who support trainees throughout the process of raising a concern.
These experiences will support the development of a toolkit, which will provide support for student decision-making throughout the process of raising concerns. Featuring advice, guidance and real-life case studies, it is hoped that the toolkit will provide reassurance and instil confidence in individuals who may find it difficult speaking up about a problem or issue they are facing.
To ensure the resource is fit for purpose, the resource needs to accurately reflect student experiences – both positive and negative - around raising concerns, which is why trainees, students and practice staff and academics from all healthcare programmes and professions are being invited to contribute.
What are the benefits of getting involved in this project?
Involvement in this project will help current and future healthcare trainees navigate raising concerns within practice-based learning environments and placements.
All participants will receive a certificate to evidence their involvement in development of the toolkit.
What does participation in the project involve?
Participation can involve using a wide range of multimedia to share your story. This could be via a short video, audio recording or just writing your story as a narrative – you can decide what works best for you. All the stories can be captured online via Teams.
Can my involvement in the project be anonymous?
Yes. Any story or experience shared to support development of the toolkit can be kept anonymous, if desired.
