The Welsh Clinical Academic Track (WCAT) programme offers an exciting opportunity for doctors and dentists to combine clinical training with world-class research, developing the next generation of clinical academics in Wales.
Delivered through a partnership between Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) and the universities of Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea, WCAT provides a fully integrated clinical-academic training pathway from entry into specialty training through to Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
WCAT residents benefit from:

A fully funded three-year PhD where fellowship funding has not been secured
20% protected academic time throughout clinical training
