Summary |
Use demand modelling to determine how much education and training needs to increase in the medium to long term. |
Description |
The dashboard helps plan workforce resources by using simulation modelling. It pulls data from population trends, workforce statistics, service activity, and training records to predict future healthcare staffing needs. |
Benefits |
Improving the education-to-employment pipeline data dashboard is key to making workforce planning more proactive. It provides useful data for discussions on GP training and multidisciplinary team design while helping spot staffing pressures before they lead to shortages. |
Progress so far |
HEIW has now built this dashboard to improve workforce data visibility. It gathers data on GP and nursing staff and includes demand modelling based on 2034 disease predictions. It is already being used to guide decisions on GP specialist training. |
Next steps |
The plan is now to expand the dashboard to include Pharmacy, Dental, and Optometry but there are some data quality challenges, which are slowing this down. The dashboard will also link to Action 8D to help improve demand data quality based on population health needs. |
