The healthcare science programme covers the needs of all professions within the healthcare science field. So this is a wide and varied programme of work.
Welsh Government's Healthcare Science Framework is the reason this programme exists.
Our vision for the programme is:
We work in partnership with the profession, including:
Healthcare Science Research and Innovation Working Group:
The ambition of the Healthcare Science Framework is to build a future NHS Wales where more people can reap the benefits of healthcare science-based interventions, driven by individuals who can pursue exciting and enriching careers.
To achieve this, we need to create an environment which is rich in research and innovation, where healthcare science professionals can thrive and take a leading role.
Our Healthcare Science Research and Innovation Working Group (HCS RIG) was set up in 2022 with members from across the healthcare science profession, Welsh Government, Health and Care Research Wales, Universities and more.
HCS RIG is open to new members. If you are interested in joining, please contact us for meeting details.
Healthcare Science Quality and Safety Working Group:
With the need to make sure that services are of good quality, healthcare science services use a type of inspection and certificate that is known as service accreditation.
We run a Healthcare Science Quality and Safety Working Group (HCS QSG) to help the profession to share their quality development tips and achievements. They are also a good source of help for those not knowing where to start with their accreditation.

Local healthcare science networks and profession groups
All health boards and trusts in NHS Wales are encouraged to support local healthcare science networks.
Professions are also encouraged to hold national heads of service groups.
This makes sure the profession have a stronger voice by working together.
