This section provides resources to support staff involved in medicines support. These include guidance on safe practice, learning resources, and information to help develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to support people safely with their medicines.
Health and Social Care Support Workers play an important role in helping people to manage their medicines safely and effectively across community and care settings. Medicines support is defined as any support that enables a person to manage their medicines and may vary depending on the person’s needs and preferences. This may include prompting or reminding someone to take their medicines, assisting with opening packaging, supporting safe storage, or administering medicines where this has been assessed and agreed as part of a care plan.
The All Wales Medication Administration Framework sets out the standards that should be used to inform practice within the social care sector. The framework specifies the training required to ensure that health and social care workers have the knowledge, skills, and competence to safely manage and administer medicines in a variety of care settings according to their job roles.
All resources on Medicines Management such as the units, guidance, scenarios, workbooks and e-learning, are available on YTD.
This course offers direct access to the suite of resources aligned with each unit of the Medicines Management qualification. Whether you're a learner building knowledge or an assessor/IQA guiding others through the process, the materials here are designed to support both independent learning and formal assessment.
