Global Health Experience (GHE) for GP Trainees in Wales

HEIW are pleased to announce a new Global Health volunteer programme which is available to GP ST2 trainees.  Trainees in Wales can apply for an Out of Programme experience (OOPE).  If you are successful with your application, you will then need approval from your Educational Supervisor (ES) and GP Programme Director (GP PD).  The placement is for up to 8 weeks with one of three very different partner organisations.   HEIW will support and facilitate the placements, although they will be on a voluntary basis and trainees would need to be self-funding.  The number of vacancies will vary for each recruitment round and will be reviewed annually.

Deployment will be conditional on achieving an outcome 1 in the ARCP at the end of ST1.

Applications will open in the Summer 2025.  An email will be sent to all current ST1s who will be in ST2 during the period from August 2025 to August 2026 with instructions on how to apply.  There will only be two vacancies for Lesotho, one for Spain and one vacancy for Japan available for this recruitment round, only applicants that meet the criteria will be interviewed.
