Oral surgery

Oral Surgery is a Dental Surgical Speciality concerned with surgery of the mouth, face and jaw and is practiced in Dental Teaching and district general hospitals as well as in General Dental Practice.

It has close ties with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, but does not require a medical degree. Completion of a three year training programme in Oral Surgery leads to a Certificate of Completion of Speciality Training (CCST) and registration on the General Dental Council (GDC) Specialist list.

Training is designed to equip the trainee with the necessary skills to practice as a Consultant in Oral Surgery. These are defined in the curriculum prescribed by the: Specialty curricula
