The new Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) Climate Education Hub makes it easier for NHS Wales staff to build climate-smart practice into their everyday role.
The hub is about making sustainability practical and relevant to everyday work, not an added extra, but part of how we deliver daily care.
If you work in NHS Wales, you’re already making decisions that affect the environment, every day. The good news - many of the changes that make care more sustainable also make the environment more sustainable. No grand gestures required, just consistent and practical habits.
The new hub is easy to access and provides bite sized learning to help you make a difference. Its full of small and big ideas that fit your job role, and you can apply immediately. See more here: Climate Education Learning hub

Richard Palmer, Assistant Director of Planning and Performance at HEIW, says: ‘this is about embedding sustainability into everyday practice, improving care while reducing environmental impact’.
The Climate Education Hub
A national resource designed to help you build knowledge, skills and confidence in sustainable, climate-smart practice. It brings together a wide range of curated learning resources and flexible learning pathways, tailored to different roles across NHS Wales, whether you are an educator, trainee, leader or part of the wider workforce.
Why it matters
Sustainable healthcare is about improving outcomes across the board. Better for patients, for the system and for the planet, it supports more efficient services, reduces waste and helps protect long-term population health.
Achieving this requires collective effort. This only works if we all take part. Every role, every setting and every action contributes to building a more sustainable NHS Wales.
Take the next step
Building a greener NHS Wales starts with all of us!
