Applications for the Scientist Training Programme (STP) posts in Wales for 2026-29 are now open.
Funded by Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) and run by the National School of Healthcare Science, the STP trains and develops the future NHS Wales healthcare science workforce through a blend of structured academic study and workplace learning, alongside career progression routes and opportunities to support innovation in healthcare science to benefit patient care.
Associate Director of Workforce Transformation for Healthcare Science at HEIW, Dr Sarah Bant said:

If you are committed to working in NHS Wales within one of our array of healthcare science professions, this is such a fantastic way to start.”
Successful applicants to training posts in Wales will:
In Wales, the programme, trainee salary and bursary are all funded by HEIW.
Hopeful applicants should have an honours degree (first or 2:1) in a pure or applied science, or an MSc or PhD relevant to the specialism they are applying for.
The maximum limit of applications to the programme in Wales that an individual can submit has been lifted for 2026.
