Published 04/09/2025

Healthcare professionals across Wales now have access to a new eating disorders learning course on Y Ty Dysgu.

As part of Health Education and Improvement Wales’ (HEIW) commitment to delivering high-quality education and training, this course has been developed by the Wales Clinical Implementation Board for Eating Disorders, supported with content originally produced in partnership between NHS England, Beat, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

The course is a Level 1 Module which offers essential insights into eating disorders. It has been created to enable healthcare professionals, at any level, to improve their understanding of eating disorders, learn how to spot one and know how to sign post to help and support.

The course is compiled of flexible, tiered modules to enable learners to tailor their journey based on individual goals and experience.

The course topics are:

  • The different types of eating disorders
  • How to spot an eating disorder
  • Some things to consider when approaching someone if you suspect an eating disorder
  • What to do if you suspect an eating disorder and how you can support someone to get help.
