Directions to Tŷ Dysgu
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is located at Tŷ Dysgu in Nantgarw, South East Wales.
Tŷ Dysgu is a short drive north from Junction 32 on the M4 and has convenient links into the South Wales valleys and beyond via the A470.
By Car
Travelling on the M4 from the East/West
- Follow the M4 and take exit 32 (Tongwynlais) onto the A470.
- Continue on the A470 until you reach the exit for Cefn Coed (Trefforest Industrial Estate).
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Caerphilly Rd/A4054.
- At the next roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Cefn Coed Rd.
- Tŷ Dysgu is on your left, please note, onsite parking is for staff only, various roadside parking options are available for visitors.
Travelling on the A470 from the North
- Follow the A470 south to Nantgarw.
- Take the exit for A468/A4054 for Caerphilly/Taffs Well.
- At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Caerphilly Rd/A4054.
- At the next roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Cefn Coed Rd.
- Tŷ Dysgu is on your left, please note, onsite parking is for staff only, various roadside parking options are available for visitors.
Travelling on the A470 from the South (Cardiff)
- Follow the A470/North Road out of Cardiff city centre.
- Continue to follow the A470 until you reach the exit for Cefn Coed (Trefforest Industrial Estate).
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Caerphilly Rd/A4054.
- At the next roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Cefn Coed Rd.

By Train
The nearest train station to Tŷ Dysgu is Trefforest Estate which is serviced by two railway routes: the Merthyr Line and the Rhondda Line.
Please note there is an approximate 40 minute walk from the train station to Tŷ Dysgu via Willowford Road > Gwaelod Y Garth Road > Main Avenue.
By Bus
Nantgarw’s bus services are frequent, with two companies providing transport to and from the Cardiff area:
- Stagecoach South Wales
- No. 26, Cardiff – Blackwood
- No. 132, Cardiff – Maerdy
- Edwards Coaches
- No. 400, Cardiff – Gwaunmiskin
There are three stops in Nantgarw (all within close proximity of Tŷ Dysgu) – Nantgarw Castle Bingo, Nantgarw Cross Keys Inn and Parc Nantgarw.

By Bicycle
The Taff Trail is recognised as a scenic and safe route to Tŷ Dysgu. It is a 16.5 mile pathway that runs between Cardiff Bay and Pontypridd, stopping at Nantgarw along the way. This route is mainly off-road, but does join quieter roads at Tongwynlais.
