Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner

Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP) work within a wider multi-disciplinary team providing evidence-based wellbeing interventions to support adults of all ages to promote good mental health and recovery from severe mental health problems.

The role of a MHWP includes providing person centred assessment, thorough risk assessment, collaboratively agreeing and coordinating a care plan. They also provide specific evidence-based treatment interventions which focus on areas where an individual wishes to change how they feel, think to improve their wellbeing. Interventions are based on cognitive behavioural therapy and provided on a one-to-one basis. MHWPs may also signpost and support engagement with other professionals and agencies.
