Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology (CAAP)

Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology (CAAPs), is a new workforce in psychology in Wales, having previously been established in Scotland and England. They are specialist healthcare professionals within the NHS. In Wales, CAAPs work with adults and older adults in a variety of healthcare settings, including primary and secondary care, under the supervision of a practitioner psychologist.

CAAPs to deliver a range of evidence-based psychological interventions. Aiming to make a positive difference to people’s lives by promoting wellbeing and reducing distress using evidence based psychological approaches. CAAPs are also trained in evaluation skills to enable them to evaluate their work and improve the services that they work in.
