You’re very welcome to attend just one session or join all three, each stands alone, but together they provide a comprehensive view of national workforce support, education and training processes, and practical tools for workforce transformation.

Session 1: Understanding the National Workforce Support for Healthcare Science and Allied Health Professions.
This session provides an overview of HEIW’s national workforce offers for Healthcare Science and Allied Health Professions, alongside multi-professional development opportunities. It will outline the scope, intent and strategic alignment of current programmes, clarify who they are designed to support, and explore how they can be used to enable local workforce planning and service development.
Session 2: Navigating Education and Training Processes: Funding Routes, Planning and Governance.
This session will explain the mechanisms and processes that underpin education and training across NHS Wales. It will cover how the Education and Training Plan operates, routes to postgraduate education funding, and the governance structures that inform decision-making. The session will focus on how the system works, rather than availability or entitlement, to support informed and realistic workforce planning. It will provide an update on how the commissioning Team is progressing with development of the 2027-28 Education and Training Plan.
Session 3: Applying Career Framework to Support Workforce Transformation - Healthcare science focus
This session will explore how the Healthcare Science Career Framework can be used as a practical tool to support workforce transformation at health board level. Bring your Healthcare Science scenarios to the team for discussions and advice. With use of a case study participants will consider how career pathways, role development and skill-mix can be used to address service needs, support sustainability and enable long-term workforce development. These skills in applying methodology will transfer to other career frameworks as they are launched.
