The NHS Wales staff survey 2023 is now closed!

Thank you!

Thank you to those who have participated in the National NHS Wales Staff Survey 2023. We heard from 22,535 colleagues which equates to just over 20% of all eligible staff.

Reporting

At the end of February, we shared two dashboards with every organisation containing high level results for NHS Wales Staff Survey. The first dashboard contained NHS Wales data and the second was your organisational level data. This contained how colleagues from your organisation responded to the full question set in comparison to All Wales staff. This level of data allows colleagues to analyse and identify organisational wide priorities and focus on interventions that will support improvements for staff experience. We know that some organisations have already begun to use the data to generate conversations in their organisations, focussing on 2 or 3 key headlines.

The national dashboard was also shared with the trade union, employer and Welsh Government representatives at the Welsh Partnership Forum in March where we surfaced discussions on NHS Wales wide priorities as a result of the findings. HEIW has also began mapping national programmes of work against these findings.

Delays in Reporting

We previously informed NHS organisations that we would give access to their nominated administrators in April to  a self-reporting platform which would allow reporting at a Directorate/service level, however there were some external challenges with this (causing a delay in giving access to detailed data to our NHS Organisations). Fortunately, HEIW’s Workforce Analytics team has worked on an in-house solution and as of 30 April, access has been granted to Staff Survey Leads to a self-reporting dashboard.

HEIW’S Staff Survey Dashboard

With this now being an annual survey and to support a long term sustainable and consistent reporting tool, HEIW will internally drive the design work on reporting staff survey data out to all NHS organisations going forward.

Building the capacity and capability within HEIW has also ensured a commitment from us to provide timely data (earlier than that experienced in this cycle).  Our power BI dashboard has the capability to go beyond providing data files, and so our internal team have worked on enhancing your previous dashboard. Your organisation Staff Survey Leads have attended a virtual demonstration of the dashboard.

If you have any questions about how your organisation is working with the staff survey data, please contact your Staff Survey Lead. They are listed below.
