Healthcare Science Network

This is a group of Healthcare Scientists first formed in the early stages of the development of Modernising Scientific Careers in Wales. They continue to develop, influencing not only within Wales but across the UK. They are key to collaboration across Wales and are described in the Looking Forward framework as the professional group at the core of the Healthcare Science Programme.

The governance and decision-making related to the Programme delivery is supported by a Healthcare Science Programme Board. More details, including terms of reference and meeting papers, can be found here: Healthcare Science Network and Programme Board.

Communications toolkit

The Healthcare Science Programme communication toolkit has been developed to help build a 'one organisation approach' communicating the true breadth of healthcare science in Wales.

The toolkit aims to highlight the exciting opportunities in healthcare science in Wales.

Spotlight sessions

Since our last newsletter we’ve hosted a fantastic spotlight session on ‘All Things Leadership in NHS Wales’.

Helen Thomas the Assistant Director of Leadership and Succession in HEIW provided an overview of the multi-professional leadership offer across NHS Wales. in addition to this, healthcare science colleagues shared their experiences of undertaking the Practical Skills for Education and Leadership (PSEL) for healthcare scientists.

Watch this space for more spotlight sessions.

Consultant Clinical Scientists in NHS Wales

The Consultant Clinical Scientists recommendations were produced by the Healthcare Science Network. They provide information and guidance about the role, recruitment, education, training and attainment requirements for Consultant Clinical Scientists across NHS Wales.

The document aims to facilitate the development of healthcare science services where Consultant Clinical Scientists can play a key leadership role in multi-professional service provision and transformation. This contributes towards the ambition in 'A Healthier Wales: Our Workforce Strategy for Health and Social Care' to have a workforce with the capacity, competence and confidence to meet the needs of the people of Wales.
