Continuing professional development (CPD)

Medicines on top of table

The Revalidation Support Unit (RSU) develops and delivers a range of CPD events and online resources to support the needs of the NHS Wales workforce.

Our CPD activity is designed for GPs, to update clinical knowledge and to support ongoing learning, but are also appropriate for other health care providers. We actively seek opportunities to collaborate with our colleagues across HEIW, as well as external agencies, to develop and promote multi-disciplinary educational events and resources.

CPD e-Modules

Our CPD website hosts over 30 open access modules on a range of clinical and non-clinical topics.

Frequent reviews of our modules ensure they remain up-to-date and our modules are promoted by utilising HEIW’s social media channels and by linking them to national awareness campaigns. We monitor trends and current primary care issues to ensure we meet the ongoing needs of the workforce and evaluate the ‘success’ of each module by analysing key data including feedback from users.

We are committed to ensuring that all our modules comply with the Welsh Language Standards that HEIW has voluntarily adopted.

CPD study days

We deliver a programme of high quality learning needs based events that are available to all GPs across Wales. These face-to-face educational events cover a broad range of topics with an opportunity for GPs to network with their peers and gain information and advice from specialist clinicians.

Our study days provide an excellent opportunity to:

  • update knowledge on a broad range of topics
  • gain information and advice from leading expert clinicians
  • learn more about national and local policies and procedures
  • network with other clinical professionals
  • support professional development and practice
  • meet the requirements for revalidation.

Further information regarding our upcoming events and modules can be found on our GP CPD website.
